Tips To Eliminate Fatigue And Increase Energy

As we get older we can experience less energy and fatigue. There are many reasons why this can be the case. Understanding our bodies and how we can help them is key in eliminating any fatigue or lack of energy we may be experiencing as well as finding ways to get that energy back!

What Does Fatigue Look Like

First, it’s important to understand that fatigue is a symptom, not a disease. Illness and disease can certainly result in fatigue but fatigue itself is always the symptom of a root issue. Second to this is that fatigue can either be physical, psychological or a combination of the two and should not be confused with drowsiness which is when you feel the urge to sleep. Lack of energy and motivation from both a physical and mental standpoint are other ways to describe fatigue. Often a person will notice feeling tired over a period of time or after an activity though feeling fatigue after an activity can typically be relieved from a short period of rest. People who hit middle age are more prone to notice fatigue as they age but everyone can be susceptible to it. Common signs include lack of motivation, tiredness, difficulty with concentration, irritability, headaches, dizziness, physical weakness and impaired ability to think clearly.

Why Am I Feeling Fatigued

As mentioned before, there are a lot of reasons as to why someone may be experiencing fatigue. Stress, lack of exercise, strenuous activity, heat, an underlying medical condition like thyroid disease or diabetes and even hormones can all cause fatigue. With so many underlying causes it’s important that you seek medical attention to determine the root cause. Of course, there are many ways to help eliminate fatigue and increase your energy without seeing a medical professional but understanding the root cause of your fatigue can help eliminate it altogether.

Tips To Eliminate Fatigue And Increase Energy

1. Consult Your Physician First– Before you set off on changing some things within your lifestyle, determine the root cause of your fatigue. Any health issues should be ruled out first to ensure a healthy lifestyle. Diabetes, heart disease, thyroid disease, sleep apnea, anemia and arthritis are all illnesses that can result in fatigue and go unnoticed. If the root cause is a health condition that you have to take medication for be sure to talk to your doctor about any side effects of the medication as some can lead to fatigue.

2. Move Move Move–  Exercise is one of the best things that you can do for your body along with eating healthy, natural foods and drinking plenty of water. Plenty of studies confirm that exercise is an energy booster as well as having a positive impact on mental health.

3. Yoga– There are many different ways to exercise that result in a boost of energy but yoga specifically has been proven to impact a person’s mental clarity and energy as well as reduce stress.

4. H2O– If you are like most people then you are probably not drinking enough water. Dehydration can happen without a person realizing it and can be considered dangerous if not treated. By drinking plenty of water your body will be able to perform at its optimal performance. When you do not drink enough H2O your energy decreases along with mental focus and physical performance.

5. A Healthy Sleep Routine– Our bodies are meant to function around the natural clock of day and night. Making sure that you get plenty of sleep is key in having energy. Everyone can be a little different when it comes to how much sleep they need but the important thing is figuring out how much sleep you need and then going to bed on time so that you can get it. Short naps of 10-20 minutes are also good ways to increase your energy throughout your day.

6. Eat Plenty Of Omegas-Omega-3s are some of the healthiest foods that you can put into your system. Fish is a great source of omegas and they are full of protein.

7. Eat Smaller Portions– Food is meant to be an energy source but unfortunately, our bodies tend to go for food more out of desire than need. Breaking down meals into smaller portions will allow our bodies to use the food we intake as energy rather than having to store what is not needed at the time. This is also a great way to stabilize your blood sugar levels.

A constant feeling of fatigue is not something that you want to ignore. Because it’s a symptom to an underlying cause, ignoring it can potentially have a negative impact on your health. Talking to a medical health professional is always the best way to ensure that your health is in good shape and it’s also a good way to gain greater understanding of your body.
