We know choosing a new healthcare provider comes with a lot of questions. To make things easier, we’ve gathered answers to some of the most common ones we hear from patients and their families. From insurance coverage and cash pay options to what to expect at your first visit, you’ll find helpful information here. If you don’t see your question answered, please don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re happy to help.
What types of insurance do you accept?
We are in-network with several major insurance plans—Regence, Premera, UnitedHealthcare, First Choice Health, Tricare, PacificSource (limited), Aetna—and several Medicare plans. Coverage varies depending on your specific plan, so we encourage all patients to share their insurance details with us so we can verify benefits before scheduling. We also recommend that patients verify their own insurance coverage, as our complimentary insurance verification is not a guarantee of coverage. If your plan is not in-network, we also offer affordable cash pay options.
What are the cash pay rates?
Payment for cash pay visits is due at time of scheduling. For patients choosing to pay directly, our current rates are:
- Initial Functional Medicine Visit (45 minutes): $300
- Follow-Up Visits (30 minutes): $200
- Health Coaching (45 minutes): $120
Where are you located?
We are a fully telehealth clinic based in Vancouver, Washington. All appointments are virtual, so you can connect with us from the comfort of your home. We currently serve patients in both Washington and Oregon.
Can Functional Medicine Partners be my Primary Care Provider (PCP)?
While we can support many aspects of your care, we are not a replacement for a primary care provider (PCP). Because we are a fully telehealth clinic, we recommend that all patients maintain a relationship with a local, in-person PCP for services that require a physical exam, urgent care, routine screenings, imaging, or procedures.
We’re happy to work alongside your PCP as part of your care team to provide comprehensive, root-cause focused support.
What is Functional Medicine and how is it different from conventional care?
Functional Medicine is a patient-centered, science-based approach that focuses on finding and addressing the root causes of illness rather than just managing symptoms. Unlike conventional care, which often emphasizes quick fixes, Functional Medicine looks at the whole picture, including nutrition, stress, sleep, genetics, gut health, and environment—to create a personalized plan that supports long-term health.
Our providers are specially trained in this approach: Stephanie Jones, ARNP-C, is certified through the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFMCP), and our health coach, Amber Workman, FMCHC, trained through the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy (FMCA).
What conditions do you treat?
We care for patients with a wide variety of health concerns. Many of our patients come to us after being told “nothing can be done” and discover new hope and meaningful improvement through a root-cause approach. Some of the most common areas we support include:
- Stress, anxiety, and sleep difficulties
- Gut health issues (IBS, bloating, food sensitivities, microbiome imbalance)
- Autoimmune conditions such as Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, psoriasis, celiac disease, and rheumatoid arthritis—often supported by healing the gut microbiome
- Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS) and Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders (HSD), mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS), POTS, histamine intolerance, and dysautonomia
- Chronic fatigue and brain fog
Do you offer hormone replacement therapy (HRT) or other hormone therapies?
We do not prescribe or manage hormone replacement therapy (HRT) or other hormone-based treatments. While we can support your overall health and help address lifestyle, nutritional, and functional factors that may impact hormone balance, hormone therapy is not a specialty we provide.
If you are currently receiving hormone therapy, we’re happy to work alongside your prescribing provider as part of your care team.
What should I expect during my first visit?
Your first visit is a 45-minute telehealth consultation with Stephanie Jones, ARNP-C, or Dr. Denise Palke, MD, ABFM-C, ABLM. Before your appointment, we carefully review your intake forms, labs, and medical history so we can spend your visit focusing on your health story and goals. Together, you’ll begin identifying root causes and developing a personalized plan.
Do you offer labs/testing?
Yes. We use both standard and advanced testing to uncover underlying contributors to illness, such as gut health imbalances, advanced cardiac labs (particle number/size, Lp(a), Lp-PLA2, etc.), insulin resistance, Omega−3 levels, or vitamin and nutritional deficiencies. Recommended testing is tailored to each patient’s needs. Some labs may be covered by insurance, while others are available at cash pay rates.
What is Functional Medicine Health Coaching?
Health Coaching bridges the gap between a care plan and your everyday life. Our coach, Amber Workman, FMCHC, provides encouragement, accountability, and practical tools to help you make sustainable changes in areas like nutrition, movement, sleep, and stress management. Coaching offers ongoing support so you feel confident and empowered in your healing journey.
Can I start with Health Coaching?
Yes. One of our practitioners will join your virtual visit to check in. Some patients prefer the support of our health coach before going through an in-depth medical workup.
